Shortly before 3 AM on December 29th, a Chattooga County deputy clocked a vehicle speeding through Trion on Highway 27 near the Mountain View Intersection.  The teenage driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.

According to a report released yesterday by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.  Eighteen-year-old Wesley Mason of Ringgold told the deputy that he was “trying to get a friend home”, who was the passenger in the car.   The officer observed Mason’s mannerisms and determined he was under the influence of alcohol.

Mason told the deputy that he had been at a party in Alabama, but didn’t know where in Alabama.  The deputy asked Mason how many drinks he had, and Mason replied “six.”  After consent to search the vehicle was given, the deputy found a half-empty bottle of Jim Beam Whiskey.

Mason was charged with failure to dim headlights, speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
