A Summerville woman incarcerated at the Floyd County Jail since last year, is facing additional charges after jail officials say that she hit a jail officer in the face and arms with her closed fists.

Dominique Makela Adams was arrested in April of last year on Broad Street in Rome after reports said she snatched a $100 bill and bank information out of a man’s hand. Reports added that Adams then proceeded to grab the victim’s 10kt diamond necklace, valued at $20,000, and broke it off his neck.

After being jailed on the original charges, the thirty-five-year-old Adams was accused of kicking a jail officer last year and scratching another officer.  She was charged in connection with those incidents as well.

Adams is charged with four counts felony obstruction, felony unlawful acts in a penal institution and simple battery against a law enforcement officer in connection with the latest attack on jail officials.
