Two men from Atlanta were arrested by LaFayette Police as one attempted to pick up a fraudulent prescription from a LaFayette pharmacy.

Medi-Thrift notified police that they believed a scam was in progress.  They got an order for promethazine-codeine syrup, but when they called the issuing Doctor’s office to confirm, found the order was a fake.  It was an ongoing problem, they found… and is the subject of a Federal DEA investigation.

When arrested while trying to pick up the prescription in LaFayette, the suspect said the syrup is worth $1,000 on the street in Atlanta.  Several other fake prescriptions to be filled at other Georgia pharmacies were found in the vehicle, along with two guns.

Police arrested twenty-three-year-old Austin Draper and twenty-four-year-old Jacob Thompson on charges including fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.
