The Town of Trion’s council has approved a deal worked out between Trion Mayor Lanny Thomas and Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry that will deed land near the Mountain View intersection in exchange for the town taking over water service for residents on Riegel Crossing.
The deal will see the Town of Trion giving the county $15,000 and the piece of land that is the site for the dumpsters at the county’s convenience center.
In turn, the Town of Trion will pick up water service for an area that is currently being served by the Chattooga County Water District.
There is a stipulation to the agreement that says if the county ever abandons the dump site near the Mountain View intersection, the land would revert back to the Town of Trion.
