After winning the GHSA Class A State Dual Championship title last month, the Trion Bulldogs traveled to Macon and came back as Class A Traditional State Champions.  It was the second time in the past three years and the third time in history that the Bulldogs have won the state championship.

The Bulldogs had two individual champions in Macon with Toby Maddux at 160 pounds and Brantley Willbanks at 220, as well as a pair of runners-up in Bladyn Bowman and Logan Eller.

The Bulldogs won the title by defeating Social Circle with a total of 225 points to Social Circle’s 205.5 points.

“We had a lot of adversity on day one, and the guys had a lot of heart and fought until the very end,” said Trion coach Eric Brock, whose team had several close losses in Friday’s early rounds.
