It’s never a good idea to drive with a cell phone in your hand since it is against the law in Georgia, but is especially not advisable if you have illegal narcotics in your vehicle.

Summerville Police say that they pulled over thirty-six-year-old Kara Christina Marie Mayes recently after an officer observed her driving while looking down at her cell phone.  When officers stopped Mayes, she initially gave officers a false name.  Police sorted out her personal information and found out her true identity and then asked her if she had anything illegal in the vehicle.

Mayes admitted to officers that there was a bag in the car that contained illegal drugs, a needle and a pipe.

Mayes, who already had a warrant out for her arrest, is now facing methamphetamine possession charges, possession of drug related object and charges for giving a false name or birth date to law enforcement.
