It appears that State Rep. Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee), who represents all of Chattooga County and about one-third of Floyd County in the Georgia House, will not have any opposition in the upcoming election.
With only three weeks to go until qualifying is up, no other Republicans have stepped forward to challenge Lumsden in the Primary Election and no Democrat has sought the office for the past several election cycles.
Lumsden was first elected to the Georgia House when he defeated Chattooga County Democrat Barbara Massey Reece in 2012.
Lumsden’s campaign reports $129,151 cash on hand after raising $7,366 and spending $5,655 during the last reporting period.
