Spencer Hogg told WZQZ News on Friday that he will not be seeking re-election on the Chattooga County Board of Education.

Hogg was appointed to the seat last year after board member Dr. Julia Houston abruptly resigned her seat, representing the Lyerly District.

Spencer Hogg told WZQZ News, “It is an honor to serve as a member of the Chattooga County School Board and to have the opportunity to advocate on behalf of our children on a daily basis. I look forward to continuing to serve for the duration of the year, however I will not be qualifying for re-election. Filling the remainder of this term has been a privilege and I look forward to fulfilling that commitment. I’m very excited about what we can continue to accomplish in the coming months. As always, I will continue to serve our community in every way possible.”

As to the question of who might run to fill Seat 4 on the Chattooga Board of Education, Hogg stated, “I have no doubt well-qualified candidates will seek this office and continue to represent District 4 well.”
