Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry announced earlier this year that he was terminating a 10-year contract that was signed in 2020 with Redmond EMS to provide ambulance service in Chattooga County.

Redmond had been providing the service to the county at no-charge since 2010. Former Commissioner Jason Winters renewed the contract his last year in office.  When Commissioner Elsberry took office, he had the option to redo the contract since it was signed by the previous commissioner.

Elsberry has said that he thinks the county could get more services than are currently being offered by Redmond, despite that fact that the county currently pays nothing for the service.

WZQZ News asked Commissioner Elsberry this week for a copy of the EMS bid proposal for potential EMS service providers.  The commissioner tells WZQZ News those bid proposals have not been completed.
