There were three local teams in the GHSA High School Basketball playoffs yesterday but only one team is advancing to the Elite 8.

The Trion High School Girls had an amazing season.  The Lady Dogs traveled to South Georgia to take on Montgomery County.  Trion was facing off with the number one team in Class A in the GHSA Sweet Sixteen.  Despite a hard-fought effort, the Lady Dogs fell short with a final score of 52-36.

The Chattooga Indians had a rare GHSA playoff double header at home yesterday afternoon and played hard with a packed-out gymnasium at Chattooga High School.  The game between the Chattooga Boys and Early County from Blakely, Georgia was hard-fought and extremely close with Early County edging out a win 70-68.  The Chattooga Boys ended their season with a total of 21 wins and only 7 losses.

The Lady Indians came off a win against Haralson County  to face off with Lamar County from Barnesville, Georgia.  Lamar County was not match for the Lady Indians.   The Lady Indians are advancing to the Elite 8 with a final score of 54-48 in Saturday’s game.  The Lady Indians will face off next against Rabun County.  That game will be held at Rabun County High School in Tiger, Georgia Tuesday at 6 PM.
