
A traffic stop on Highway 27 near Harrell Street in Trion ended with the arrest of a Cedartown man after he admitted to smoking marijuana before driving.
Deputies clocked twenty-one-year-old Andre William Taylor doing 62 mph in a 45 mph speed zone. Officers said that during the traffic stop, they noticed as strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Taylor admitted to officers that he had smoked a joint not more than 30 minutes before driving.
After a consent to search was given, deputies found 2 ounces of marijuana, along with digital scales and plastic baggies.
Taylor was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute, Possession of marijuana over an ounce, Possession of drug related objects, Speeding (62 /45) and DUI (Drugs) Less Safe.
Deputies said that they found $354 in small denominations while booking Taylor in the Chattooga County Jail, which they termed “consistent with drug resale” in their report.
