Over the past two weeks there have been a lot of political rumblings concerning the three Chattooga County Board of Education seats that will be on the ballot in this years elections.

Qualifying for the seats starts today and will go through this Friday at Noon.

So far, there have been three candidates announce their intentions to run for the open seats.  Local radio personality and mall business owner Bonnie Fletcher intends to qualify as a Republican for the seat being vacated by Spencer Hogg to represent the Lyerly area.  Tiffany Lawrence, a local cosmetologist, is seeking the position being vacated by Brad Hayes to represent the Pennville District.  Longtime educator, small businessman and farmer Lynn Hall is planning to qualify as a Democrat for a full term on the board.  Hall was appointed to that position after Sammy Ballard passed away.

The qualifying fee for the seats is $39 and candidates must qualify to run with either the Chattooga County Republican Party or the Chattooga County Democratic Party in order to be on the Primary ballots in May and the General Election ballot this November.
