Constitutional carry is one step closer to becoming law in Georgia. A bill in the General Assembly would allow most Georgia residents to carry a weapon without a concealed weapon permit.
House Bill 1358 allows a law-abiding adult who is legally allowed to carry a concealed firearm, to do so without first having to obtain government permission. Additionally, the legislation maintains the existing concealed handgun license system, so citizens who still wish to obtain a permit may do so.
The Georgia Senate recently passed similar legislation and the bills will have to be worked out in conference. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has already signaled that he will sign the legislation.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey recently signed similar legislation into law.
Currently, there are 22 states that already have constitutional carry.
