After almost a year without a county convenience center for trash disposal, Menlo area residents will soon be getting a place to take their trash without having to drive all the way to Summerville. 

Commissioner Blake Eslberry says that he has signed the final paperwork on around three acres of property in the city limits of Menlo for a new convenience center.  The commissioner says that the location will offer privacy for the neighborhood.

The former dump site on Highway 48 across from the Menlo Barn Dance closed on March 31st of last year.  That site was being leased to the county and the property sold.  The new owners of the property didn’t want the county dump site on their property.

The county paid $9,025 for the three-acre property off Reece Street near Menlo School for the new dump site.

The commissioner says that the new site will offer around thirty feet of wooded area and vegetation between the street and the dump site.
