The Georgia Senate unanimously passed a Georgia House bill that would temporarily suspend the state’s gas taxes.

The bill will now head to Gov. Brian Kemp, who said he would sign it immediately.

Georgia’s gas tax is listed as 29.1 cents per gallon. Once it is signed, the tax will be suspended through May 31.

When gas prices hit record highs in Georgia and nationally, the governor announced he would quickly work with the Senate and House to get the bill passed.

Kemp previously said suspension of the gas tax will not effect his proposed tax refund, which he has promised will give $200 to each Georgian.

This is not the first time Georgia has suspended its gas tax. Last year, Kemp suspended state motor fuel taxes for several days to offset increasing prices after a computer hack led to the shutdown of a key pipeline that carries fuel to much of Georgia.
