The Chattooga County Board of Education met on Thursday evening and voted to go to a four-day school calendar for the upcoming school year.  The vote was 4-0 with board member Brad Hayes abstaining from the vote.

Board of Education Chairman Eddie Elsberry told WZQZ News, “Mr Hosmer and his team did an excellent job preparing both 4-day week and 5-day week calendars for 2022-2023.  The superintendent also presented accurate data on multiple areas including achievement, test scores, graduation rate, student and teacher absentee, discipline, finances and incentivized pay for teachers and staff. ”

The board members discussed the matter at length before taking a vote on the proposed calendars.  Board members Lynn Hall, B.J. Montgomery, Spencer Hogg and Chairman Eddie Elsberry all voted in favor of the four-day option.

Elsberry added, “The board had civil and open discussion with all members participating. Once all board members were satisfied with the discussion, the majority felt the 4-day calendar was best for our students our system and our community.”
