An aggressive driving incident near Chickamauga led to a fatal shooting, Tuesday evening. The deceased is identified as fifty-three-year-old Danny Douglas Claire of Chickamauga.

Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said the incident involved three men; two on motorcycle, while the deceased man was driving a truck. According to witnesses, the three vehicles came to a stop in the Dollar General parking lot at Garretts Chapel road, around 7:20 p.m.

The men engaged in a scuffle and forty-three-year-old  Jeremy Dewayne McCrary of Chickamauga fired his 9 mm weapon, striking Claire in the chest.

In a release on Wednesday afternoon, Sheriff Wilson said Detectives met with District Attorney Christ Arnt and no charges will be filed against McCrary at this time. They will complete the investigation and then turn the findings over to the DA’s office.

Claire’s body has been transported to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy.

The aggressive driving incident began on Lee Clarkson Road, according to the release.
