LaFayette Police made two drug arrests near Walmart under unusual circumstances.

It started with a complaint from a person in the parking lot, saying an unattended vehicle had just rolled into their car. Police found that the straight-shift vehicle was left in neutral, causing it to roll. They entered the old Dodge pickup, which had no tag, in order to engage the parking brake.

Inside, in plain view, they saw a baggie with what looked to be meth… and a glass pipe. When no one came to the vehicle, they reviewed surveillance video and saw the man and woman who had arrived earlier. They were not located inside the store.

Hours later, officers saw two people answering the description, walking on Highway 27 in North LaFayette. The subjects admitted the vehicle was theirs.

Articles inside the truck belonged to the suspect’s father, who lived in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Some of the stolen objects were shipped back to him.

43 year old Joshua Norville and 30 year old Dorothy Hight, both of Murfreesboro, were charged with possession of methamphetamine.
