If you make the trip from Summerville to Rome on Highway 27, and you pass through the Gore Community, you have probably seen the giant American flag at Scott Hill.

That flag is there because of a group of Chattooga County Veterans who have come together to form “Veteran’s For Our American Flag.”

According to the group’s website, they are nonpartisan group that exists to support veterans and the flag.  The group says, “We make no political or religious statements.  We feel that our beloved Pledge of Allegiance addresses this. Our intent is to encourage other Groups of Veterans to do the same.”

The group is planning a meeting on April 6 at Sweet P’s at the Tavern in Trion at 6 PM.  They are welcoming the public to come and find out more about the group and their plans to raise more flags like the one on Scott Hill in Gore.
