WZQZ’s Bonnie Fletcher has been off the air since she qualified to run in the Republican Primary in May.  The Federal Communications Commission says that broadcast media employees cannot be on the airwaves unless certain criteria are met.  Basically, the FCC says that equal air time must be given to any other candidates in a race, unless those candidates agree to sign a waiver allowing the broadcast media employee to be on the radio or television.

There was one other Republican that qualified for the May GOP Primary.  That candidate, Mr. Norval Terry Henderson, said over the past weekend that he would be willing to sign a waiver that will allow Bonnie Fletcher to return to the airwaves.

WZQZ’s General Manager Jimmy Holbrook said, “We want to thank Mr. Henderson for his generous gesture in allowing Bonnie to return to WZQZ before the May Primary.  We have not set an exact date when Bonnie will be back on the radio.  First, we will consult with our FCC attorney in Washington, D.C. and then have the agreement signed by both candidates.  Then, we must upload the signed document to our FCC public file that can be accessed from our website at www.chattoogainfo.com.  Once that is complete, Bonnie will be able to return to her regular weekday shift on WZQZ Radio.”
