In August of last year, Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry hired a high-profile Georgia attorney to represent the county in an ongoing dispute between the commissioner and local manufacturing company Try-Con Industries in Lyerly.   To date, the county government says that they have not received a bill for the attorney’s fees for the legal work done for the county.

The commissioner had demanded a repayment of over $48,000 from Try-Con for work that was done at the company’s property in Lyerly before Commissioner Elsberry took office.  Try-Con says that the work was done with all the necessary approvals and refused to pay back the money to the county.   The commissioner hired Lester Tate, a Cartersville attorney and former press secretary for former U.S. Rep. Buddy Darden after Chattooga County Attorney Chris Corbin recused himself.

Tate issued his opinion about the matter and the county dropped its demands for repayment by Try-Con.  Despite the apparent resolution of the issue weeks ago, the commissioner says the county has not received a bill from Tate.

WZQZ News has asked for information regarding the bill with an open records request.  To date, no information has been provided and the county says that no bill has been received.
