LaFayette Police arrested a suspected car thief after a vehicle was reported missing from a Bomar Street address, Saturday morning.

The owner told police the Hyundai was unlocked and the keys were in the ignition. He noticed it missing around 8 a.m. His girlfriend’s Jeep had also been entered, along with an outbuilding on the property… and $350 in cash and several items were missing.

The owner later located his vehicle parked, partially obscured by a fence, on Thompson Street… and it was recovered without the keys.

Following some detective work, Police arrested 27 year old Charles Allen Jenkins of Resaca… charging him with felony theft by taking, entering an auto with intent to commit theft and burglary.

The report states that Jenkins had asked to borrow two wrenches… and the exact tools were found sitting on top of the stolen car when it was recovered.
