Summerville Police were able to retrieve a stolen bicycle and return it to its rightful owner on Wednesday of this week.

Police say that a report was filed by the complainant, Joseph Burrage, on March 28th after his wife noticed that the bike was missing from their porch on Walnut Avenue in Summerville.  The theft was recorded on the couple’s security camera.

When police saw the surveillance video, they were able to identify the suspect in the video as being Christopher Blake Stiles.  Stiles also had an active parole violation warrant at the time of the theft.

Around 10 AM on Wednesday, an officer spotted Stiles at Pay-N-Tote on Highway 114.  Police arrested Stiles on the active warrant and asked him about the stolen bike.  Stiles admitted to the theft and said that the bike was at his residence.   Stiles also admitted to taking the bike apart and painting the parts.

The bike was found in Stile’s mother’s home inside his bedroom.

In addition to the parole violation, Stiles was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on theft by taking charges.
