The new county convenience center opened on Reece Street in Menlo on Monday.  The former site on Highway 48 was closed after the land was sold to a new owner who did not want to continue leasing the spot for the dump site to the county.

Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry paid $9,025 for the Reece Street property which is just over 3 acres.  The commissioner says that the new site will provide a convenient site for Menlo area residents and offer around thirty feet of wooded area and vegetation between the street and the dump site.

The site is located near the end of Reece Street, just below Menlo School.  The site will be open from 7:30 AM -5:30 PM Monday – Saturday for household garbage only.
