Today is the last day Georgia residents can register to vote in the May primary elections, which include big-ticket races for governor and several local positions.
Georgia allows residents to register to vote online or by mail. More information is available at georgia.gov/register-vote. To check if you’re already registered to vote, visit your My Voter page at the Georgia Secretary of State’s website at mvp.sos.ga.gov.
May 24 will include the partisan primaries for several high-profile elections.
Chattooga County voters will find contested local races on the Republican ballot. Voters will be choosing between two Republican candidates to be the nominee for the Menlo seat on the Chattooga Board of Education. The winner of that election between Lori Brady and Steve Groves will face off against incumbent Democrat Lynn Hall who has no opposition in the Democratic Primary. Voters will also be choosing between Bonnie Fletcher and Norvel Terry Henderson for the Lyerly seat on the Chattooga Board of Education. There is no Democrat running in that race.
