Law enforcement was called to the scene of a domestic incident in progress on Maffet Street in Trion last week, according to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found thirty-eight-year-old Luis Albert Perez in a rage and chasing a woman inside the residence with what appeared to be “some kind of weapon” in his hand. The woman was able to escape the house and as she came out, law enforcement gained entry into the house.
Deputies discovered that Perez had threatened to kill the woman, and all the residents in the house had locked themselves in a room to escape the man’s rage. Witnesses say that Perez broke a television and threatened to kill the woman with a knife.
Perez was hit with a stun gun and taken into custody and is facing a long list of charges in connection with the incident including damage to property, simple assault, obstruction of law enforcement, and cruelty to children under the Family Violence Act.
