
UPDATE 7 PM: Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader released the following statement on Monday evening: “As far as an update on the crash earlier, I can confirm that there were two vehicles involved and a total of four people injured. Unfortunately, two of those were fatally injured and succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Another patient was air lifted to an area medical facility and one was transported via ambulance to a Rome hospital. More information will be released tomorrow after family members have been notified. The Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation.”
A serious accident on Monday shut down a portion of Trion-Teloga Road for most of the day. Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader notified media about the accident just before noon. The sheriff said, “A major crash on Trion-Teloga Road near the intersection of Melba Drive has closed a portion of the road.” The sheriff updated around 1 PM saying the road was still closed as Georgia State Troopers worked the accident. Lifeforce landed in Trion on Monday afternoon to transport victims. WZQZ News will have more information as it becomes available.
