If you are a convicted felon, you shouldn’t have a firearm.  If you’re a convicted felon and you have a firearm and an outstanding warrant, it’s not a good idea to video yourself with the firearm and put the video on social media – but that’s what a Chattooga County man decided to do and his decision landed him in jail.

Summerville Police said that they got a report that a convicted felon was streaming a Facebook Live video of himself shooting a 9mm pistol near Northwest Congress Street and Orchard Road.  It seems the man’s probation officer was watching the Facebook Live and recognized one of his probationers.

When police arrived at the location, they found nineteen-year-old Justin Kyle Campbell sitting on the porch of a residence.  Police say that Campbell “look startled” to see police and attempted to get up and go in the house.  Officers told Campbell he needed to stay where he was and found the 9mm pistol in his possession.

Police did say that Campbell was “very cordial and cooperative” as they arrested him on an outstanding warrant from Douglas County and for being a convicted felon in the possession of a firearm.  Later, police learned that Campbell had taken the gun from a friend, who declined to press theft charges.   Campbell told police that he needed the gun for protection because some people “might be out to get him”.
