Starting today, Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton’s office will be closed on Wednesdays.

Tax Commissioner Hampton says that after hearing from the community, she is closing the office on Wednesday in order to have extended hours on other days of the week that will allow people to access the office before and after traditional business hours.

Starting today, the Chattooga County Tax Office will be open Mondays, Tuesdays,  Thursdays, and Fridays from 7:30 AM until 5:30 PM.  The office will be closed on Wednesdays.

The tax commissioner says that the new schedule will allow her to operate with extended hours four days a week and avoid overtime or hiring extra employees.
