A Floyd County man has been charged with felony vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of drugs in connection with a fatal crash on Highway 27 in April in the Armuchee area that took the life of a Summerville woman.
This week, fifty-year-old Joseph Patrick Hale of Rome was taken into custody after a lengthy investigation by the Floyd County Police Department.
Hale was driving a black Hyundai Genesis northbound on Highway 27 when his car crossed over three lanes of traffic and struck a Ford Escape driven by sixty-three-year-old Lou Anne Loggins of Summerville. The accident happened near Rome-Midway Primitive Baptist Church.
Loggins died in the accident.
