Summerville Police were called to a State Street residence last week after a woman reported that a man had slapped her after the two argued about a property dispute.
When police arrived on the scene and spoke with the complainant, she told officers that she had been in a verbal dispute with sixty-one-year-old Conley Martin. Martin had been staying at a residence and the complainant went to ask him when he would be leaving when the argument started.
Monica Ford told officers that Martin hit her and independent witnesses verified that they saw Martin chasing the complainant with an object and then striking her in the head. Officers determined that Martin had used a dust pan to slap Ford in the head.
The arresting officer said that due to the fact that Ford did not sustain any physical injuries, he charged Martin with disorderly conduct. The officer also informed the complainant that they would have to use proper legal procedures to evict Martin from the residence.
