A Highland Avenue, Summerville man told deputies on Saturday that they needed to arrest him and take him to jail because he was going to beat another man to death.

According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office that was released on Tuesday, thirty-four-year-old Joel Charles King was in the Gore area when he told deputies that he was planning on killing a man whose home he had lived in.  According to King, the man he was planning to kill had accused King of child molestation.  King denied those charges and told deputies that he was going to “beat the man until he was dead”, according to the report.

Deputies attempted to get King to cool off and to talk with Summerville Police about the accusations.  King again insisted to deputies that he would kill the man if they did not arrest him.

In the report the deputy stated, “He sounded very serious and very determined with his threats. The subject was then placed under arrest and transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.”
