A fifty-nine-year-old Calhoun man was arrested in Haywood Valley on Tuesday after he was stopped by a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputy for not wearing a seat belt, and was found to be in the possession of drugs.

According to the report from the sheriff’s office, Perry Vick was acting nervous when the deputy pulled him over.  The deputy asked Vick what he was doing in Chattooga County and Vick replied that he had set a tent up at a nearby campground and was going to wash some clothes.  Vick told the officer that he used to live in Chattooga County and that he “just needed to get away for a while”.  It turns out the Vick was out of jail on bond for possession of methamphetamine and aggravated assault.

The deputy said that he could smell burnt marijuana, and after a search of Vick’s vehicle, deputies found a burnt marijuana blunt and a syringe in the vehicle.  A further search turned up two baggies with a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Vick was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug-related objects and not wearing a seat belt. He was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
