The Trion Town Council moved their regular monthly meeting for June to Tuesday of this week to allow the mayor and council members time to attend the Georgia Municipal Association Conference. At their meeting on Tuesday evening, the council voted to allow the citizens of Trion to vote on “liquor by the drink” in the Trion Town limits.
The City of Summerville has had liquor by the drink for several years with a handful of restaurants buying licenses.
The item was added to the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting and passed unanimously.
The referendum will be a “stand-alone” election; meaning it will not be held at the same time as the November General Election.
A date has yet to be set for the vote.
