The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate an alleged stabbing incident that occurred at the Menlo Barn Dance on Highway 48 during a New Years celebration. 

According to eye-witnesses, an altercation involving at least two subjects began inside the building at the Barn Dance and spilled over into the parking lot.  Sources say that two men were pulled apart while fighting and it was discovered that one had been stabbed, allegedly in the chest. 

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the injured subject was taken by Chattooga County EMS to a hospital in Rome.  Family members told AM 1180 that the injured subject was in ICU for a period of time following the incident.  Later on Saturday, it was reported by family members that the patient was in stable condition. 

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department told AM 1180 late Saturday afternoon, that the incident is still under investigation and that no charges have been filed.  It is believe that at least one subject is being held for questioning in relation to the incident.
