Cell phone service in Menlo is sketchy at best, but that may change after a new cell tower is built on city-owned property in Menlo.
Menlo Mayor Allen Keen announced last week that a New Jersey company has already started construction of the new tower on property at the city’s wastewater treatment plant. The tower is owned by BellSouth – a subsidiary of AT&T. However, it is believed that other cell phone providers will likely lease space on the tower.
The Summerville News reported that the City of Menlo has already been paid the first installment on the lease of the property and the city is working to put a water meter in at the site.
