Chattooga County deputies responded to a call last Thursday about an intoxicated man causing trouble at a residence on Carol Drive in Summerville.  When a responding deputy arrived, others at the residence said that thirty-nine-year-old Joshua Hines was “trying to get people inside the residence to fight or wrestle with him”.

The deputy spoke to Hines’ wife who said she had been trying to get him to leave and go home, but he refused.  When the deputy made contact with Hines he found that the subject was heavily intoxicated and told the deputy he had “no idea” why the deputy was there.  When the deputy advised Mr. Hines again that he should leave with his wife, Hines told the deputy he would have to fight him if the deputy wanted to arrest him.

The deputy managed to get the man outside the house and again asked him to just go home with his wife.  Mr. Hines told the deputy he would “just run”.

At that point Mr. Hines was placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of officers and was taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
