The Chattooga Young Farmers will have a busy month during August with two educational classes and participation at the Chattooga County Agricultural Fair.

Coming up next Thursday, August 4th, Young Farmers will hear from Pam Traylor who is the USDA District Conservationist.  She will be speaking about USDA Natural Resource Conservation resources and opportunities.  A taco bar will be available for attendees at a cost of $7.  To RSVP for the meeting, contact Young Farmer Director Lauren Jarrett at 706-252-4266 or email  ljarrett@chattooga.k12.ga.us

On August 12th, Young Farmers will have a free “Ag Aware” workshop on Farm Finance Management.  The all-day event will be held from 9 AM – 4 PM and will feature information on balance sheets and income statements, business planning and budgeting, family finance, risk management, applying for financing and information on SBA and FSA funding for agricultural producers.

At the end of the month, Young Farmer members will be at the Chattooga County Agricultural Fair selling ice cream and tea.  The fair will be held August 25-28 at the Chattooga County Agricultural Building and Summerville Middle School property located off Highway 100 in Summerville.
