On Sunday of this week, Chattooga County Deputies responded to a call at Archie’s Food Mart located in Subligna about damage to a vehicle.  When deputies arrived on the scene, they spoke with James Rochester who said he had been doing some work on a nearby farm when a woman jumped in his vehicle and tried to drive off in it.

Rochester said that he had promised to give the woman a ride, but wasn’t finished working at the farm when she attempted to leave in his vehicle.  Rochester told deputies that he reached through the driver’s side window of the car and put the car in park, preventing the woman from leaving.

Rochester continued with his farm work and then heard the sound of crashing glass and went to see what had happened.  Rochester found his back window busted and dents down the passenger side of the car that “looked like someone had hit with a baseball bat”.

Rochester confronted the woman about the damage and she took off walking down the road.

Rochester was able to identify the woman to the deputies and said that she was an acquaintance of his.
