A Trion man was arrested by Summerville Police last week after he was accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend.

On Friday, Summerville Police arrived on the scene on Scoggins Street to find forty-two-year-old Jeffery Scott Goins being held on the ground by a neighbor.  Police say that the neighbor had come over after Goins’ ex-girlfriend had called to say that Goins had stormed into her house and a short time later found him in the front driveway building a fire. At that point the neighbor came and confronted Goins.  As the neighbor started to walk away after confronting Goins, Goins reportedly attacked him from behind and a scuffle ensued.

When officers arrived they found Goins was intoxicated.  Police say that Goins had been arrested several times for harassing the victim despite a court order to stay away from her.

Goins was arrested and booked into the Chattooga County Jail on charges of aggravated stalking, criminal damage to property under the Family Violence Act, simple battery and criminal trespass.
