A meeting will be held on Monday of next week concerning the land use ordinance that was enacted by Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry earlier this year.
In enacting this ordinance, Commissioner Elsberry said, “this ordinance is intended to target, “developers and individuals moving in from metro areas and from other states”, but some local landowners think that the commissioner has enacted a ordinance to introduce zoning for the county that will negatively impact land owners, farmers and other businesses. Some of the complaints leveled against the ordinance include the requirement that a paved road be installed before land can be divided, limits on developing recreational tracts of land and timber land, and a lack of appeals process for the new ordinance.
WZQZ News will be live-streaming the Chattooga Planning Commission’s meeting next Monday, August 15th on our Facebook Page. The meeting gets underway at 6 PM at the Chattooga County Civic Center (across from Truist Bank) on Highway 48 in Summerville and the public is invited to attend.
