Chattooga County had a better week according to the latest round of COVID-19 numbers from the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The weekly numbers come out each Wednesday.  In April of this year, the Georgia Department of Public Health switched from daily to weekly COVID-19 reports.

Over the past several reporting periods, Chattooga County was seeing an sharp uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases, but for the first time in several weeks the number of new cases went down in Chattooga County.  The previous week, the county reported 54 cases and this week that number dropped to 45.

Still, there were more than 100 new COVID-19 cases reported last week in Northwest Georgia.

The number of COVID-19 cases at Rome hospitals also went up last week with a total of 36 receiving treatment – the highest number of hospitalized COVID-19 cases since February of this year.
