This week, state senator-elect Colton Moore of Dade County sent a letter to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp asking the governor to grant him a commission in the Georgia National Guard to “lead troops” to “defend our southern border” with Mexico.
The letter came after a vehicle was stopped in Dade County that had illegal workers onboard.
In the letter to Kemp, Moore said, “I am urging Gov. Brian Kemp to grant me commission in the Georgia National Guard so that I can lead troops to Texas to assist Gov. Gregg Abbott in securing the southern border. Kemp campaigned on a promise to protect the people of Georgia from this illegal invasion, and he has failed to uphold his promise to the citizens of our state.”
Twenty-eight-year-old Moore has never served in the military or the National Guard.
