The Chattooga Board of Educated voted to set the millage rate at 12.0 mills at a meeting held earlier this week.  The millage rate is a roll back from the previous rate, but with increased property assessments, will result in an increase in property taxes for Chattooga County taxpayers.

The board was acting on a recommendation from Chattooga County School Superintendent Jared Hosmer to set the millage rate at 12.0.  Board Member Lyn Hall recommended a full rollback.
One member of the public attended the meeting that was held on Tuesday of this week.  In all, there were six people that attended the three public meetings regarding the millage rate.  After a brief discussion, the board voted to set the millage rate at 12.0 mills with members Lyn Hall and Brad Hayes voting against the measure.
