Northwest Georgia’s unemployment rate unchanged at 5.6 percent, Rome Down

The State of Georgia continues to enjoy a historically low unemployment rate.  Numbers for the month of July were released on Thursday of this week.

“This summer, we have seen unemployment rates drop while job numbers have climbed,” said Commissioner Mark Butler. “As employers have worked to fill positions with the most qualified people, job seekers have taken advantage of the wide range of employment opportunities with more benefits and flexibility than ever before.”

While most counties in Northwest Georgia are seeing an unemployment rate under 3%, Chattooga County’s unemployment rate was 3.7% for the month of July.

Across the Northwest Georgia Region, the unemployment rate was 3.7%.

Initial claims were up from June in Manufacturing and Administrative and Support Services, and down from July 2021 in Administrative and Support Services and Accommodation and Food Services.
