Floyd County Police have arrested a man in connection with a suspicious death at a Shannon home on Thursday of last week.

Police responded to the home shortly before 6 AM and found a woman in distress. Once on the scene, EMS crews began life saving measures for a woman, identified as thirty-four-year-old Kayla Cherie Gettrost. Authorities went on to say that they first thought that the woman had taken her own life, but Deputy Coroner John Hamilton later said that the evidence did not indicate such.

Floyd County Police Maj. Jeff Jones said the death “appears suspicious” and there was a person of interest in the case.

On Friday, police arrested forty-two-year-old Carl Von Gettrost of the same address and charged him with possessing a firearm by a convicted felon and illegally tattooing a child under the age of 18.

As of Saturday, police say the investigation is ongoing in the death that occurred in Shannon and have not specified if Von Gettrost is the “person of interest” identified on Thursday.
