The 2022 Chattooga County Agricultural Fair is over and by all accounts, the fair was a huge success this year. WZQZ News spoke with Fair Council President Lynn Hall on Monday.
Hall said that looking at preliminary numbers, it appears the fair had one of the most successful years it’s had in the eight years since it was reintroduced in 2014. The four-day event drew thousands of people this year, and that was good news since the fair is still recovering financially from not being able to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Hall said that firm numbers will be released in the upcoming days, but told WZQZ News that attendance was up over previous years on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
The large crowd that came out to hear nationally-known gospel singer Jason Crabb on Sunday made up what was probably the largest Sunday evening crowd the fair has seen.
Hall said that he and the Fair Council are pleased with this year’s success and will begin planning for the 2023 fair in the upcoming weeks. A full report of the attendance and financials will be released to the media and the public in the upcoming weeks.
