The Chattooga County Chamber has announced that Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Laura Searcy will be the guest speaker this month at the Chamber meeting, scheduled for September 20th at noon.
Searcy is a passionate advocate for the prevention of addictions among Georgia’s children. She has served as the program director for the Georgia Tobacco Free Youth Project. Searcy will be talking about ways parents and other adults can influence children about the dangers of vaping.
Studies show about 1 in 5 high school students in the United States use vape products on a regular basis. The alarming trend among children and teens is something that should be addressed at an early age. Searcy says the longer children delay trying vaping, the better chance there is that they will not form a life-long addiction.
Searcy will be speaking to the Chamber at noon and then that evening will be speaking at an event hosted by Drug Free Chattooga at 7 PM at the Chattooga County Civic Center.
The Chamber meeting is open to members and the public. You can find more information about attending HERE
