Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton is planning a mobile home tax sale next month. There are twenty-seven mobile homes that have back taxes due. Some of those back taxes stretch all the way back to 2018. Mobile homes are taxed separately from real estate and the mobile home tax is due in April of each year. All mobile homes in the county are required to pay the mobile home tax, even if they are not currently being used as residences. The tax sale is slated for October 4, 2022 on the Chattooga County Courthouse steps. Anyone who has delinquent mobile home taxes can settle their bill at the tax office before the sale.
