There is no shortage of things to see and do this weekend in Chattooga County and the surrounding area:

  • Lyerly Down Home Day is going on today from 10 AM – 2 PM.  The event will feature food vendors, inflatables, a pie eating contest and a BBQ cookoff.  Lyerly Down Home Day will take place at Angus McCleod Park on Highway 114 in Lyerly
  • Subligna Community Center Fundraisers – The annual event raises money for the community center.  The Northwest Georgia Cruisers will be on hand for a car show and food will be available.  The Subligna Community Center is located just past Subligna Baptist Church.  The event will be from 11 AM until 3 PM
  • Finster Fest is taking place today and tomorrow at Paradise Garden in Pennville.  Finster Fest will feature more than 60 folk, craft, and fine artists, music performances, and special guest presentations. In addition, patrons will experience the finest Southern fare, a children’s art activity area, and, of course, the chance to tour Howard Finster’s famous folk art environment. Hours are from 10 AM – 5 PM today and Sunday.
  • A free Kids Fishing Event is planned at Sloppy Floyd State Park today from 8 AM until Noon. Everyone can fish for free. Bring your own fishing gear and bait. Parking at Sloppy Floyd Park is $5.
  • The 52nd annual Show and Sell Arts & Crafts Fair will be held at Rock Spring United Methodist Church today from 9 AM – 4 PM rain or shine. Features include breakfast biscuits, homemade baked goods, arts and crafts vendors, a tractor show, live music, food vendors, and a kid’s zone with inflatables. In addition to a quilt display in the church sanctuary, a raffle drawing for a handmade quilt will be held at 4 p.m. Free parking and admission. The church is located at 3477 Peavine Road in Rock Spring.
